India Queer Jam 2026
Why a Queer Jam?
In 2026, Queer people are still subject to physical and emotional violence, denied access to healthcare and livelihoods, face stigma, and sometimes, even within the community, can not find support. In countries around the world queerness is still illegal, and in India, we are still fighting for basic equality.
Many times, queer people find themselves in fire-fighting mode. We work, support friends, find relief shelters, fundraise for each other, help each other with medical issues… and still make the most of life. As we navigate the myriad of challenges that society offers us, there is very little time to rest, reflect, heal, have deeper conversations or witness joy. The Queer Jam is a space to slow down together.
It is a chance to ask better questions of ourselves, each other, and the system. It is a chance to celebrate, dance, listen, engage, create, and be together. It is a chance to explore our other identities as well. The queer community is deeply intersectional- with different languages, geographies, caste, class, abilities and more– and this is important too.
Our hope is to invite an intersectional, thoughtful, and loving approach to dialogue.
