Chel Viteri

Chel Viteri (she/her) is an educator, facilitator, and community builder from the montañas of Quito-Ecuador, now living and calling St. Louis—land of various Indigenous tribes, including the Osage, Missouria, Illini, and others—home. She moved there three years ago with her partner Jim and has since been on a journey of building connections, finding kindred spirits, and learning to live with the sweet ache of missing home. With a background in community development, Chel has worked across Latin America and the U.S. in education, facilitation, and program leadership—often weaving together storytelling, art, and popular education as tools for transformation and justice. She currently works at WashU and recently co-founded Mazorca Facilitation, a heart project with her best friend, focused on facilitating learning and unlearning spaces as well as community-based safety. She’s always thinking about storytelling—not just as something we do, but as something that does things: builds worlds, deepens relationships, and invites us into new ways of being together.
