Jesse Workman

Jesse Workman is a parent, writer, civil rights attorney and water sign. Jesse’s current legal work is as a senior staff attorney at A Better Balance where they work to expand definitions of family for paid leave programs across the country and co-lead the campaign to reform New York’s medical leave program for workers. Jesse has worked previously investigating claims of discrimination in NYC, advocating for trans people in jails and immigrant detention centers, and providing re-entry support to young people in NYC. The thread throughout Jesse’s work has been an attempt to lessen the harm of legal systems and share vital legal information. Jesse is grateful for a handful of life long friends turned chosen family, a nourishing writing collective, a first-time garden, and the many wonderful and challenging lessons of partnership and parenthood. The Yes Jam has been a place of practice and growth for Jesse over the years and they are excited to be joining the Law & Social Change team for the first time.
